About DevsReview
DevsReview reviews Mac and developer apps. Every review is based on hands-on use, not a spec sheet or a press release.
How we test
We install each app and use it as a daily driver for a real stretch of time before writing a word. For a single-app review that usually means at least one to two weeks of normal work: the launcher we actually launch things with, the clipboard manager that holds our real clipboard, the cleaner we point at our own disk. Roundups run longer, because every app on the list gets the same treatment side by side.
We note the rough edges as well as the wins, including the bugs and missing features, because a review that only lists positives is an ad.
How we score
The headline number is a 1-to-5 DevsReview score set by the reviewer, weighing five things:
- Does it do the job better than the built-in or free alternative;
- Speed and stability in real use;
- Design and how native it feels on macOS;
- Value for the price or subscription;
- Rough edges - bugs, missing features, friction.
Separate from the editorial score, every signed-in reader can leave their own 1-to-5 rating. That community score is the average of real votes from logged-in accounts, shown alongside our own so you get both the tester's verdict and the crowd's.
Editorial independence and affiliate disclosure
Scores are independent editorial opinions. DevsReview is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the apps it reviews unless explicitly stated. We do not accept payment to raise a score or to publish a positive review. Some links may be affiliate links; if we ever earn a commission it never changes a score or a verdict, and we will say so on the page.
